Many respondents who reported that soil crusting impacts yield also report that they have no viable solution.

Soil crusts, an extreme form of soil aggregate breakdown, can occur from rain-drop impact, in which the small soil particles form a barrier on drying at the soil surface. This barrier makes water penetration and seedling emergence difficult. The barrier or 'skin' is only 0.1 mm thick with a 'washed-in' layer 1.5 to 3 mm thick. Since SoilX 66 improves aggregate stability, it should help to lesson soil crusting when applied at the right time
